Welcome and History

Welcome to Golden Key Enrichment (GK)!

Our curriculum is a labor of love, started initially by Yulia in 2013 to help her young (then 3 and 1 years old) children improve their Russian language skills and create a community of Russian speakers. Soon after starting GK in her basement, Yulia realized that, in addition to learning Russian, many of her young students would also benefit from being exposed to deep and complex mathematical concepts in an age-appropriate and hands-on manner. This is how the GK Math Enrichment program found its start.

Daria joined Yulia the following in the fall of 2013 as a teacher, and in the summer of 2014 as a partner, and together, they have worked tirelessly to create a suite of exceptional enrichment programs for students ages 2 to 12th grade in a variety of subjects, such as math, Russian language and literature, art, chess, and hands-on skills.

While our programs cover a broad slew of subjects, the principles that guide our approach remain the same:

1) take broad, complex topics and present them in a manner that allows young minds to engage with the material in a meaningful way;

2) foster enthusiasm for learning by setting an example - all of our teachers are passionate about their subjects and pass on their energy and love to the students; and

3) work with each student individually to meet their needs and partner with parents when necessary - our groups are small, and often have an assistant on addition to the teacher to ensure that no one falls behind or loses interest.

2020 was a challenging year for the entire world, and GK was, of course, no exception.  However, it was also a year of opportunity, as we took most of our programs online. We stumbled, we learned, we adjusted and are now proud to say that our virtual program exists in all subjects that we offer in-person and adheres to the same guiding principles, while reaching many students outside the Philadelphia area who would not normally have the chance to attend our classes in-person.

Our initial clients are not so little anymore, but they are still closely involved with GK, both as students and assistants, and all of us are really excited to be educating the next generation. We look forward to seeing you at GK - in-person or online!
